Walking Program

The division of Houston FIT for all walkers/runners with a pace of 13:45 or greater is known as the Purple Group, and we are glad that you have chosen to join us. We’ve worked hard to create a vibrant program that will help you to train safely while improving your speed and performance.

As a member of Houston FIT’s Purple Group, you’ll receive knowledgeable and compassionate coaching to help you accomplish your unique goals. The Purple Group’s current paces range from 13:45 to 20-minute miles, so we have a group for ALL fitness levels.

Weekly Seminars

We include seminars that pertain to both runners and walkers. Our goal is to educate and inspire you. We urge you to join us after each Saturday walk for seminars on a variety of topics, including:

  • Setting a fitness pace and keeping it 
  • Choosing the best walking shoes for your needs
  • Setting goals
  • Hydration and nutrition for walking
  • Safe walking form
  • Skillful stretching and muscle care
  • Social connection
  • Increasing pace
  • Using a Pedometer
In Summary

We look forward to working with each you over the next six months to set and achieve your goals, whether it be a faster marathon time or just getting off the sofa and walking. Our walkers come from all experience levels but we all have one thing in common — to reach a walking goal. We will be pleased to help you succeed.
